Inspired by the beauty of the land and the history of the buildings, the owners believed that Everwood would be a perfect place to nurture artists and strengthen communities.
In 2014, they launched the Everwood Farmstead Foundation with a mission to host inspiring spaces where professional artists can perform, teach and work in a natural environment.

OUR MISSION
To host inspiring spaces where professional artists can perform, teach and work in a natural environment.
OUR VISION
The Foundation will strengthen communities through the power of art.
OUR VALUES
With a spirit of hospitality, the Foundation will bring three powerful elements together: artists, nature and diverse communities.
1) We value artists because they are our storytellers
2) We value nature because it centers and refreshes us
3) We value diverse communities because they make
society healthier
4) We value the art of hospitality because it’s what makes us
feel at home
WE BELIEVE
Nature is an inspiration and a balm for artists. When they restore and recharge at Everwood, everyone benefits.
WHO WE'RE SERVING
1. PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS
The professional artist who is looking for a unique performance venue with a diverse audience, an inspiring space to teach their craft or advance an artistic pursuit, and a circle of kindred spirits.
2. ASPIRING ARTISTS
A student or adult who is looking for a way to explore and hone their artistic talents and just the right performance, workshop or mentor could make a difference.
3. AUDIENCE MEMBERS
The arts enthusiast who appreciates our unique venue and its connection to nature.
OUR PURSUITS
IT STARTS WITH A RETREAT
We welcome artists to join us as our guests in the farmhouse for the entire weekend of the performance or workshop. The farmhouse has three comfortable guest rooms (2 queens and one twin). Spend some quality time on a hammock, hike the property or get to know one of the 12 resident chickens!
ARTIST SERIES (PERFORM)
A wide array of professional artists are invited to perform or show in the 100 year-old barn, a 140 seat venue. The Series brings together rural audiences hungry for the arts and urban audiences looking for unique experiences. The Series will be produced four times a year, on average, from June through October.
The Foundation just finished its fifth season and has welcomed artists such as Jeremy Messersmith, Theater Latté Da, Chastity Brown, Kevin Kling, Sally Wingert, John Mark Nelson, Peter Rothstein, Ten Thousand Things, Rogue Valley, ARENA Dances and Dark & Stormy Productions. Artists have used the opportunity to try out new material or present existing material to a new audience.
Over the past 5 years, the Foundation
has provided $14,500 to local school programs.
The Foundation provides half of the proceeds from each event to the artists and the other half to a local school programs. Over the past 5 years, the Foundation has provided $14,500 to local programs. Depending on the art form, events are limited to approximately 140 guests with a “pay what you can” ticket price (suggested between $10 - $20). We guarantee a mutually agreed upon minimum payment for the artist. In addition, a custom-built merchandise table is provided for artists to sell items before or after the show. The Foundation does not keep any of the proceeds from either the box office or the artists' merchandise table.
ARTIST WORKSHOPS (TEACH)
Launched in 2015, the Workshops are designed to inform and inspire both aspiring and professional artists with focused, hands-on practice. Our inaugural workshops focused on watercolors and writing. These small groups become supportive communities for both instructors and students to share conversation and progress long after the workshop is done.
Prices and seat availability are based on the individual workshops. After covering the cost of a catered lunch and any other agreed upon hard costs, Everwood provides all of the proceeds of the workshops to the instructor.
ARTIST RETREAT (WORK)
Launching in 2017, professional artists will be invited or will apply to stay on the property for a period of 1–8 weeks to further or finish an artistic pursuit. The program will be available between April and October. The retreat will be separate from the main house and fully furnished with an un-catered kitchen. Guests will be required to provide tools of their trade and will have access to other portions of the property. They will not be required to participate in the Artist Series but synergies between the two activities may naturally result. While on retreat, they will be encouraged to participate in some kind of local school outreach to talk about their craft.
